Ground Beef Celery Recipe

If you love eating ground beef, then you can also add celery to it and make it even more interesting and tastier. In case you did not know celery is an aromatic herb that lends taste to the food even if used as seasoning. You can make burgers, pies, meat loaf and several more dishes, including chili and still use celery in all of them.

There are two options to use celery. One is to use the stalk of the herb in the meat recipe or use the leaves as seasoning over the beef dish. In whichever way you choose to use, it has great heath benefits as well as taste.

Here are some ground beef recipes that you could use with celery.

Cheeseburger Pie

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves, crushed
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/2 cup chopped sweet onion
  • 1 small can (6 ounces) sliced black olives, drained
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh celery

First mix the ground beef along with milk, egg, garlic and all the seasoning. Then take a pie plate, 9 inches, and evenly press the ground beef mixture on all the sides of the plate. Make sure that you do not grease the plate. Thereafter, start layering the ground beef with ketchup, onions, olives and cheese. Bake this at 400 degrees in a pre-heated oven for around 30 to 35 minutes. Once ready, immediately garnish with celery leaves and serve hot.

Cajun Meat Loaf

  • 2 whole bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup chopped green bell peppers
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Tabasco sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup catsup
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 2 lightly beaten eggs
  • 1 cup very fine bread crumbs

First mix all the seasoning ingredients and set them aside. Then melt the unsalted butter and add onions, celery, bell pepper, green onion, garlic and Tabasco and Worcestershire sauces. Then add the seasoning that you had set aside. Saute this mix until it begins to stick while making sure that you stir it once in a way to scrape the mix from the bottom of the pan. This should take around 6 minutes. After that, add the milk and catsup. Cook for another 2 minutes. Remove from the heat and allow this mix to cool.

Take a baking pan and place the ground pork and beef into it. Then add the vegetable mix and the bread crumbs. Use your hands to mix the contents well together. Now place the mixture in the center of the pan and allow it to bake at 350 degrees for around 35 minutes. Then increase the temperature of the oven to 400 degrees and cook for another 35 minutes.

Serve the meat loaf hot with readymade hot Cajun sauce.
