Adrenaline In Asthma

Asthma is one of the types of respiratory diseases and a person suffering from this disease experiences trouble while breathing and they face constriction in the lungs. An asthma patient may be fine on a day to day basis but when they do have the asthma attack they experience such symptoms. Anything like pollution, cold air, or a respiratory infection like cough or cold can trigger an asthma attack for them. So, patients who suffer from asthma should be more aware of pollutants that can trigger such reactions in their body and they should also try to make their home environment sterile.

Adrenalin is a hormone that is produced by the adrenalin gland in the body. This particular gland is located above the kidneys on our body; this hormone plays a very important role in maintaining the energy levels of the body and also the metabolism rate. It also prepares the body to be ready for any unusual circumstances. This kind of situation is called the fight or flight syndrome. Adrenalin also helps to reduce the stress levels in the body. Adrenalin and cortisol are two of the hormones in the body that help to keep the energy levels substantial.

Adrenalin is now found to be a hormone that can alleviate the symptoms o asthma. It was found that the body releases higher levels of adrenalin when a person is suffering from an asthma attack. During an asthma attack adrenalin causes the smaller airways to relax so that air can pass through. Adrenalin causes the fight or flight syndrome in the body which enables the immune system to fight any sudden reaction including asthma attack.

Adrenalin also floods the blood stream during an asthma attack and also binds with receptors in the heart and lungs. There are several benefits to this because the heart also increases the rate at which the blood is pumped. Researches also have noticed that the body releases adrenalin when it is under stress. Also, for asthmatic patients it has been found that when they inhale adrenalin it has better effects on the lungs. It opens the airways without causing any stress on the lungs. This could be good because the use of some drugs like epinephrine can go down for asthma patients if they use adrenalin based drugs. Also adrenalin based inhalers have lesser side effects compared to any other drug. Adrenalin based drugs are still under testing and so far they have been proven credible enough for asthma patients.
