Lymphoma is a kind of cancer that involves the cells of the immune system called the lymphocytes. Lymphoma can cause different types of cancer that involve lymphocytes and so far, nearly 35 variations of cancer have been identified. These cancers are mainly found in the lymphatic system.

The lymphatic system is an integral part of the body's immune system, and it has a network of vessels which carry fluids to various parts of the body. The lymph cells contain WBCs and these are known as lymphocytes. These lymphocytes are required for the body because they attack different kinds of agents that cause infections, right from viruses to bacteria. It also attacks the agents that cause cancerous cells in the body.

The lymph nodes are a small type op connection within the tissue and they channel the lymphocytes. Cancer itself is a disease which is caused because the immune system of the body is not functioning as it is supposed to. However, dying for lymphoma is common and it mainly depends at which stage the cancer is. In case the disease is found in a very advanced stage, then the hope for survival for the person is very slim. However, any type of cancer does kill a person against all odds. But, the doctors do promise some amount of longevity for the person based on the stage of cancer. Also, if the tumor was found in its early stages, then it can be removed surgically and then, if the tumor does not occur again, the person can live a very long life.
