Shingles are also known as herpes zoster which is ideally formation of blisters on certain parts of the body. It is definitely caused due to a virus known as the varicella virus. This is the same virus that brings about chickenpox and measles in human body.

If these are not treated on time it might lead to pneumonia, Loss of eyesight, organ malfunction, hearing loss, nervous breakdown. It can also turn fatal if not treated instantly.
Generally children and older people are at a higher risk of suffering from shingles. It can also arise if a person was under heavy medication or consumption of immunosuppressive drugs. It is contagious and even a healthy person might suffer from this virus if it ever came in contact with someone suffering from the same. The concern should be seen that the person does not expose to the sunlight. Rarely scratch the affected area. Follow a healthy diet and consume medicines prescribed.
