The typhoid fever is also called the Salmonella typhi, and is a very common disease worldwide. It can come through poor sanitation conditions, poor hygiene and also through milk or drinking contaminated water. The bacteria start perforating through the intestines and starts causing the damages.
The bacterium that causes the disease is an old one and has lived on the earth for several thousands of years. People have found documentation about typhoid in some ancient scripts and writings. In Athens, around 430 to 424 BC, people have described a plague in which most of the symptoms of typhoid have been mentioned. This caused the people to move from Athens to Sparta. Later, when the incidence repeated in Greece, the epidemic was given a name and called the Epidemic typhus. The Greek were the first ones to known about it and document typhoid fever.
Today, modern scientists claim that one of the main reasons for typhoid to occur is poor sanitation conditions and also drinking water contamination. That is why scientists recommend that drinking boiling water is the best way because boiling kills most of them germs and bacteria including the ones that cause typhoid.
Typhoid is a common disease even today. However, the former is effective treatment available for the disease but it has to be taken diligently. Also, typhoid can become fatal if instructions for recovery are not followed it makes a person very weak and also more susceptible to many other types of infection. The immune system is also weak so one has to safeguard their health at this time.
