Diflucan is prescribed for all types of fungal infections. The infections can be anywhere in the body, such as the mouth, tongue, vagina, urinary tract and abdomen. One hears about side effects from using Diflucan very rarely. However, there have been instances.

Most patients do not consider it important enough to report the side effects to the doctor.  The most common side effect is nausea. Other mild effects are headaches, indigestion, stomach ache, change in your tasting ability, dizziness and uneven heartbeat.

Sometimes, it can cause severe rashes and hives if you are allergic to the ingredients in the medication. One might find it very difficult to breathe, might experience a tightness in the chest; mouth might swell along with the face, lips, and/or tongue. The skin on the body might become scaly and red. It might get swollen and be tender to touch. The skin and the eyes might turn yellow. Diarrhea and vomiting can also crop up. There might even be a sudden drop in blood pressure.

Do not combine Diflucan with any heartburn medications. It can make your heart beat irregularly and create other problems related to the heart.

Nursing mothers should realize that Diflucan can get into breast milk. So, until the medication is completely out of the system, discontinue breast feeding.

Consult your doctor immediately when these side effects occur. These side effects may arise if the immunity of the body is low. Therefore, older people should be careful while taking Diflucan, and be alert to any changes in the body.
