Breast And Bottle Feeding Your Baby

Breast milk and formula feeding, both, work wonder for the growth and nourishment of your baby and thus are mandatory to provide them with. Most new parents sometimes do not know all the tips and techniques that are behind these jobs which make them more pleasurable and safe to do to.

Firstly, breast-feeding should be begun with just after the birth of the child. The babies are very vulnerable at this stage and only the vital nutrients present in the mother’s milk can help get them through this phase. Initially, a mother may need to breast feed her child every 2 to 4 hours. Later on, the gap may increase. Also, both the breasts should be offered to the baby, one at a time. This helps both in reducing the soreness of your nipples as well as increasing milk supply in your breasts.

Almost all the babies need to burp after gulping down a certain amount of breast-milk. The mothers should let them do that. They may have to purposely help them burp so that they are ready to take in more milk. The mother should continue with prenatal vitamins along with this.

Formula feeding is something that may be continued simultaneously with breast-feeding or as the only option. However, the second case is to be opted for only if the former case is not at all possible due to any reason. The formula to be fed to the baby must be rich in iron. New parents, especially mothers, should understand how often the babies need to be formula fed as the time may vary individually. Regular burping should be done by the babies during formula feeding too.
