Picky eating is a very bad and annoying habit. But sadly most kids tend to be picky eaters. Parents always get upset when they realize that their kids fall under the same category. Kids enjoy having cheese, pizza, and macaroni at an age when they really need to eat a healthy diet.
Firstly, you need to behave like one to make them feed any good food. You need to name dishes in a way that sounds funny and exciting. You can say Dust noodles, Butterfly sandwiches, Eyeball Soup and Hair Spaghetti. They tend to catch such words and would hence at least pick up the spoon.
Secondly, most kid imitates cartoon characters. They would want to have the same food that, for example, Batman would prefer. Hence, understand and get to know which cartoon character you kid adores and prepare the same dish for your kid too.
Thirdly, you can also include grated carrots in toffees and cakes, fruits in yogurt, oatmeal and sprouts in cheese burgers. You really have to come down to their level and thing some creative names which will just please them.
Next, you could give cool shapes to pancakes, sandwiches which will not look boring and would surely look appetizing. Buy a separate cool fancy plate for your kid depending on his choice and serve him in that. Buy bowls of unusual shape along with forks and spoons. Sit with them and have the food too and discuss things that they enjoy. For example you can tell him to rate your food and comment on the appearance. Never allow them to over eat and you can stop that by preparing food at home. Make sure he sees you cooking and build good qualities within him like sharing and emphasizing.
Lastly, allow him to have his share of cheese or pizza once in a month which will make him feel super excited.
