Fines For Dwi
Driving while intoxicated, or DWI, is a very big offense in the US, and it can have serious repercussions according to the law. If you have been in an accident because you drove under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the repercussions can be even more severe. However, if it is a first time offense, then the law could make some excuses for you and you may get away with a fine. Otherwise, typically you will have to face jail time and without a lawyer you may end up in jail in all probability.
Fines for DWI are much different than speeding tickets and so on. For instance, if you are being let off after drunken driving, then it could mean that you should pay a fine of at least $1,000 and more sometimes. A second offense of DWI could set you back $5,000, while a third offense could be fined a whopping $10,000. Also, you may have to do community service and go for classes to gain awareness about DWI and its risks.
The fines for driving while intoxicated are not the same in all states. In states like California, the frequency of such incidents is much higher, so the fines are also higher. In cities, where the crime rate is high, like Detroit for example, the charges and fines for drunken driving is very high. Also, the fine itself depends on the case of the drunken driving. The person may have crossed the speed limit specified on the highway and so on. So, even the fines that are charged for overshooting the speed limit is charged on to the final charges.
There are several influencing factors for the fine that is finally levied upon DWI charges. However, if a person just has to pay fine and does not end up in jail, then they should consider themselves lucky.
