The K1 type of visa is for people who are intending to marry an American citizen. It also allows a person to meet their fiancé (or fiancée) in the United States before the wedding takes place.

Student visas are usually F1, M1 and J1 visas and the visa is issued based on the duration of the course the student has been accepted for.
