No matter how beautiful you are and no matter what you do, appearance of wrinkles with growing age is a hard fact of life. From generations, home therapies are believed to be time consuming yet effective remedies for skin treatment.

The treatment of wrinkles is no different. Gradually, home based wrinkle creams are emerging as the safest and most efficient alternative to fight fine lines and untimely aging of the skin, particularly the face.

Of course, one cannot overlook the elevated cost factor of wrinkle creams as one of the main reasons of the popularity of home remedies. In comparison to the miniature bottles with high price tags available in the markets, home made creams seem to be the correct alternative at a nominal cost.

The answer to your worries of increasing wrinkles could be just around your house. Egg, especially the white portion, is one of the most potent ingredients of home based wrinkle creams.  Egg white, technically known as albumen, is the clear liquid part of the egg that provides nourishment for the growing embryo. It is rich in proteins dissolved in water. The process of cooking an egg involves a chemical reaction, causing these proteins to denature. Due to this, the proteins become less soluble in water and thus transform from a clear, liquid solution to a white, congealed solid. Based on the same principle, the application of egg white helps in the toning of skin. Similar to the process of cooking, the egg white applied on the face dries out as a thin film.  In this case, the protein forms a film as water evaporates. This film makes the skin feel tight.

Egg is believed to be excellent for the skin as a whole. While the egg white tones the skin, the yolk nourishes it and prevents the formation of wrinkles. The egg based wrinkle cream can be easily prepared at home. The ingredients of this cream in adequate proportion are the egg white of one egg, two tablespoons of cucumber juice, one teaspoon of lemon juice, one teaspoon of rum or brandy and one teaspoon of sodium benzoate. The preparation involves beating the egg white till a creamy consistency is obtained. Subsequently, all the other elements are combined in the egg white. This cream when used on the wrinkles is found to be very effective. It can be stored in the refrigerator and used when required.

Apart from egg, there are many other natural substances that are beneficial for the treatment of wrinkles. Some of the natural therapies for wrinkles are massaging coconut oil in the wrinkled areas, applying the juice of pineapple and apple on the face and rubbing the face with the core of pineapple. Home facials using natural ingredients are refreshing as well such as applying mashed banana on the face and leaving it on for 15 to 20 minutes, before rinsing off with warm water followed by a dash of cold water.  The best facial mask for wrinkles is honey. For this, first the pores of the face are opened by placing a cloth soaked in warm water. Then honey is smeared on the face. After 15 to 30 minutes, it is rinsed off with warm water followed by cold water to close the pores.

Egg is a great anti-aging agent. As a base for home made creams, it rejuvenates the skin and helps combat crow’s feet. However, there are certain simple rules that can keep the skin looking young and prevent it from aging before time. Avoid frowning and squinting, keep the skin moisturized regularly, use good quality sunscreens before going out in the sun and see the glow on your face!
