What Can Help Severe Muscle Pain And Hypothyroidism ?

Hypothyroidism is a condition of the body when the thyroid gland becomes underactive and is not able to produce sufficient quantity of thyroid hormones. Nearly 3 percent of the population suffers from this condition. Iodine deficiency can increase this risk.

It can also be caused by Hashimoto’s thyroiditis or deficiency of hormones from either hypothalamus or the pituitary.

Diagnosis is carried out by physical examination, and blood tests to measure TSH produced by pituitary gland and thyroid hormones T4 and T3.

Hypothyroidism is treated by thyroid hormones. Synthetic and animal derived thyroid tablets are available which are prescribed for patients with hypothyroidism. Thyroid hormone needs to be taken daily and the blood levels can be monitored to verify effectiveness of the treatment. Dosage can be adjusted as required. 

Muscle cramps and muscle pain and also other associated symptoms and complications slowly fade away as the patient continues with hypothyroidism treatment.
