It is estimated that nearly 400 people die each year from heat stroke which they get even while they are not overexerting themselves. In some people, heat stroke occurs during high temperatures, and as we speak it is very easy to develop heat stroke even while sitting at home on the couch.
Heat stroke can occur when the human body is not able to regulate its body temperature. The body temperature can rise rapidly when the body’s sweating mechanism fails, and the body cannot cool down.
Heat-related illness is a problem that can occur to anybody. However, the risks are not the same. People who are prone to certain medical conditions or who are already taking some types of medications are at a higher risk of developing heat related problems in hot weather. However, these illnesses and deaths can be much prevented. If you are someone who is at risk, then you should learn how to guard yourself.
For the body to function normally, it has to stay at a normal atmospheric temperature. If it heats up even by a few degrees, then your body automatically begins to cool itself. However, the most obvious reaction you notice is that you start sweating. As the hot sweat evaporates from your skin, your body cools down. This also means that you body depletes its fluids and that is why when you are sweating, it is important to drink plenty of water and other fluids to keep the body hydrated. In case you do not do this, you get dehydrated leading to heat stroke.
