Obesity is one of the biggest problems in the United States and many other countries of the world. Fast food has become an important part of life and due to this there is a massive increase in obesity and its related problems are being noticed all over the world. Fast food is tasty and in order to sell, outlets add fat and give value for money.

However, the calorific and health aspects are barely given importance.

A research shows that the children in the United States eat at least five times more fast food than in any other country. The research project conducted in the United States took into account the results for a fifteen year period, and it showed that there was a direct connection between fast food and increase in the rate of obesity. It proved that people who usually ate in fast food restaurants regularly or even more than twice a week had a marked difference of 4 to 5 pounds in weight compared to people who did not eat in fast food restaurants.

Some of the reasons why fast foods cause obesity are foods like burgers, fried chicken and French fries have a higher content of fat, salt and also calories overall. An over sized meal can have more calories than what is recommended for a normal person for daily consumption. Also, they lack in fiber, and have preservatives. They contain more sugars than recommended which means they cause the blood sugar to go up quickly.
