Some nutritionists have found out that the amount of vitamin C in the blood stream is directly related to the body’s ability to burn fat and use it as energy. The amount of vitamin C in the blood makes the process of oxidation of fat faster not only during exercise but also while resting.
The researchers also suggest that when a person takes in more vitamin C in the form of fresh citrus fruits, it might promote weight loss. It also shows that people who eat adequate fresh citrus fruits are slimmer than people who eat less quantity of vitamin C in its natural form.
The research, however, could not prove that vitamin C is a direct cure for obesity but confirms that it is the new means of promoting weight loss. It also proves that eating less quantities of vitamin C can hinder efforts of weight loss.
It is very important to understand the consequences of the vitamin C deficiency because it affects approximately 15 percent of the adult population in the United States alone. The main reason for this is believed to be the total increase in food processing because when food is processed, vitamin C is killed due to the exposure to heat, light and oxygen.
It is believed that Vitamin C is an important factor in the biosynthesis of carnitine, which is a small protein-like molecule. This molecule leads the fat molecules to reach the area where the fat oxidation is taking place in the tissue cells. If there is a lack of fat molecules while the process of metabolism is taking place, the essentials for creating energy can lead to tiredness. However, if there is a decrease in the carnitine levels, it may cause the fat to collect in the tissues leading to obesity.
