What Other Vital Signs Are Affected By High Blood Pressure ?

Vital signs normally called as signs of life are measures of various physical and physiological attributes of patients often taken by physician or healthcare professional in order to asses the most basic functions of body.

Primary four vital signs include respiratory rate (rate of breathing), temperature, heart beat, and blood pressure Vital signs helps healthcare professional to asses and monitor patient’s conditions and provide critical information needed to make life saving treatment decisions.

Vital signs (signs of life) can be measured, observed and monitored by physician, nurse or health care professionals. Vital signs measurements provide a baseline for patient’s treatments.

Abnormalities of heart rate are diagnosed by analyzing the pulse rate and blood pressure of a patient. Rate of  heart beat is raised during conditions such as fever and lowered by conditions such as shock or elevated intracranial pressure(pressure that occur within the cranium). The average heart rate of an adult is approximately 72 beats per minute.

A normal body temperature of a healthy person is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit or 36.5 degrees Celsius but this can slightly vary from person to person and also depends where the temperature is measured. Temperature of a person is measured with mercury or digital thermometer.

Blood pressure of a patient is recorded by sphygmomanometer. Blood pressure is recorded with the systolic pressure and diastolic pressure (e.g. 120/80).A normal blood pressure of a healthy person should be less than (120/80) mm Hg.

Vital signs are normally recorded regularly after a gap of an hour, or as required depending on the patient's condition. Then these vital signs (signs of life) are compared with healthy person's vital signs of same age and medical conditions and based on these results further actions are taken.

What vital signs are affected by high blood pressure? Nearly all other vital signs are affected. A person's heart beat and respiratory rate are the other vital signs that are affected by high blood pressure.
