What Is The Recovery Time For A Breast Lift ?

Breast lift surgery is quite a serious and painful procedure and hence, takes time to recover. It is better to be mentally prepared on what you can expect following the surgical procedure.

During the first 2 weeks, the individual may experience swelling and discomfort. In order to reduce the pain, you may take some medications recommended by your doctor. It may even take a month for the bruises to disappear after which you would get the required shape. Your nipple and the skin in the affected area may become numb but this strange feeling would disappear after a month and a half or even two months.

You would be advised to avoid sleeping on your stomach during the recovery period. Till the sutures are removed, you may be advised to only have a sponge bath. Ask your surgeon some useful tips to reduce discomfort as he would know the maximum details of the surgery you have undergone.

It is imperative to choose a perfect fitting surgical bra to assist during the recovery procedure. Never wear under-wire bra at least for a month after your surgery. Only wear a supportive bandage or a sports bra based on the advice of your surgeon. You can start doing light activities a week after the surgery. However, you should avoid strenuous activities or tasks that require constant bending during the first few weeks. Do not put excessive pressure on the chest as it may increase swelling or cause internal bleeding.

Avoid smoking for at least a month after the surgery as smoking reduces the circulation of blood and increases the recovery time considerably.
