Life Expectancy Of Men And Women Of Switzerland

In the last 100 years life expectancy of men and women of Switzerland has increase. It goes without saying the improvement in healthcare has played an important role in this.

One of the things that Switzerland is proud of is decrease in infant mortality rate and improved obstetric techniques, and better prenatal and postnatal care has contributed to this along with vaccination program.

Several studies have been carried to find out what improved the life expectancy of men and women of Switzerland and most of these studies found that both preventive measures as well as therapeutic practices played equal roles. In addition, genetics has also played a big role. Nearly in all populations of the world, women tend to live longer than men and this also true for Switzerland. The reason for this is not known.

Average life expectancy of men of Switzerland is 77.91, while that of women is 83.71 and the life expectancy at birth is 80.74. In case of men, those who reach the age of 65 can expect to live until 81.9 and women who reach 65 can expect to live until 86.

The fact that Switzerland has high life expectancy for men and women can be attributed to many reasons. For one, it is a small country with a homogenous population. It has low infant mortality rate and very few automobile accidents and homicides. All these factors make a contribution and ensure that both men and women have high life expectancy. Along with this, better living conditions, good hygiene and improved nutrition play a significant role.
