Clinical Manifestations Of Right Sided Heart Failure
Right sided heart failure is a condition which is very rare. It happens to one in twenty people suffering from heart disease. Right sided heart failure results when some problem is faced in the right ventricle of the heart. The right ventricle becomes incapable of its pumping function due to which the blood gets clotted in various parts of the body resulting in congestion. Such congestions are often noticed in the liver, gastrointestinal tract and also the limbs. Apart from this, the right ventricle becomes unable to pump blood to the lungs properly and subsequently to the left ventricle. |
Right sided heart failure causes left side ventricle failure, and also increases the risk of lung diseases like chronic bronchitis and emphysema. Apart from this, it may also cause pulmonary hypertension, heart valve disease, blood clots in pulmonary arteries, and congenital heart disease.
Various symptoms of this condition are shortness of breath, swelling in the feet and ankles, frequent urination at nights, fatigue, irregular heartbeat, palpitations, weakness, and fainting. There are few conditions that may attribute to the cause of right sided heart failure. These conditions are high fever, kidney diseases, hyperthyroidism, arrhythmia, anemia, infections, high intake of salt and fluids, and obstruction in the coronary arteries.
This kind of heart failure often affects those patients who have been suffering from one or the other type of heart disease and have been put on medications and low salt diet. When such regulations in the diet are not followed and medicines are not taken regularly, right sided heart failure can occur resulting in a medical emergency, and sometimes even leading to death.

Congestive heart failure is a condition which occurs due to improper pumping of blood by the heart. The blood flows in a reverse direction in to the body.
