The Philippines is subdivided into several regions. In fact, there are around 17 regions that make up the country. These regions are divided into 79 provinces, each of which is made up of cities. Cities can be father subdivide into their respective municipal and also further into Barangays.
Though Philippines is divided into several regions, each of these regions are not governed by any local government. The only region with a local government is t he Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
