The Kampong Glam is another place that lures tourists. This co-operative of the Malay and Arabs community as per the Raffles' Town Plan of 1822 consists of the Sultan’s Palace or Istana Kampong Gelam and the Gedung Kuning, the residence of the grandson of the sultan. While the former stands today as the Malay Heritage Centre, the latter is transformed into a restaurant. The Sultan Mosque and the Arab Street are other places of significance in the area.
The Chinatown of today, although extremely commercialized in comparison to yesteryears is still a major tourist spot. It is an amazing place for a shopping spree and the Singapore Hawker Food at the complex is also a delight for the stomach. In contrast to Chinatown, Little India is more welcoming. Although it is also a marketing venue but the people are fonder of socializing with tourists. The place also offers delicious Indian cuisines.
Sentosa Island is another not to miss place in Singapore. Its primary appeal lies in its luge and sky ride, underwater world, beaches and the musical fountain called Song of the Sea.
If accompanied by children on the trip to Singapore, then one must visit the Singapore Zoo. The most novel feature of this zoo is the presence of animals in the natural habitats instead of the typical cages seen in zoos all over the world.
