Who Are Some Famous People From Ecuador

The Ecuadorians are proud of their culture, heritage and history. Although the country is small, it has given the nation some famous people, who have even gone on to garner international fame.

Here is a list of some of the famous people from Ecuador:

• Juan Jose Flores y Aramburu was the first president of Ecuador. He was a military general, who started his military career at the tender age of 15. In 1830, Aramburu became the head of the Ecuadorian military, and the same year he ended up becoming the president of the nation.
• Eugenio Espejo was a scientist and writer. He was also a polemicist, and was one of the leaders who first started the separatist movement in the city of Quito.
• Eduardo Kingman is regarded as one of the greatest artists of the 20th century. He finished his initial education in Quito, and then pursued his further studies from Venezuela, Peru and Bolivia. He also studied at the San Francisco Art Institute in California. Besides being an artist of repute, Kingman as also a good writer and a social activist.
• Fanny Carrion de Fierro was the first female writer in Ecuador. She was a poet, an essayist and a literary critic. She finished her Bachelors from the Central University of Ecuador, and then went on to get a Masters degree from the University of California.
• Luis Miranda is another painter that has garnered international fame and recognition. He has a unique style of painting that has won him several awards and accolades internationally. He graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Ecuador, and then won a UNESCO scholarship to Italy.
