Current President Of Mexico
The current President of Mexico is Felipe Calderon. He was elected in the year 2006 elections for a term until 2012. Before being elected as the President of the country, he was the National President of the PAN party and also served as Federal Deputy and Secretary of Energy. His birthplace is Michoacán, and his father was an important political figure. His father, Luis Calderon Vega was among the founders of the PAN. He has a degree in Economics and in Public Administration. His wife, Margarita Zavala was his colleague in the party. Today they are married with 3 children. |
When he was in his early twenties, he was the President of the Youth Movement of PAN and later served as the party’s National President from 1996 to 1999. He was accused of misappropriation of funds of the Banobras bank. Later he was the Secretary of Energy and he left his post in 2004. On December 4, 2005, he was nominated as the Presidential Candidate, by his party.
He is a devoted Catholic and supported legislations for the treatment of drug addicts. He seems to have a futuristic vision for his country, aiming to move towards liberalization and political freedom.
After his election, he has sought to uphold the promises that he made during his campaign and the issues that he has taken up have caused many to conclude that he has the capability to govern Mexico effectively.
